Even though I am new to this type of story I was totally engulfed into the story and hated when I had to put it down and come back to it. During the entire story you felt you were right there seeing and hearing everything that was going on.You will find yourself laughing and crying as you learn more about what the aliens have planned for Earth. How would you feel if the safety you have felt forever was all a lie?
You will enjoy this story, promise.

Definitely different than most of the dystopians that I've read but in a great way!! Very well written!!! Some big fat tears in this one!!

Broken by Melony Paradise is a huge 5 star read.
For 20 years Earth has hosted and alien race, one that came and saved them after another world war killed half the population. To Alyssa the Szu'kara were everything good, she's the assistant to Kayn the commander and is his favoured human, after an appointment at the medical pod Alyssa finds out she pregnant, something she thought was impossible. When Alyssa meets Jordan and his brother Sebastian she starts to see that not every thing is as they've been led to believe.
I've never read anything from this author before so didn't know what to expect from this book, but from the first page I was hooked, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to read this story.

Narrative pace and plot excellent but characters were two dimensional, black or white. Characters need to develop, but these did not. Dialogue was wooden and trite. The author kept misusing the word smirk, apparently thinking it was simply a synonym for smile. It is not . Smirk connotes an unpleasant, insincere smile. Major editing for such errors in diction would have helped this book.
Good story. Alien - human relationships a bit of a stretch but well done.
Found myself reading each line to see what would happen next. Don't miss out on this exciting new series, from this new author!
Well written dystopian story, where an alien race brings peace, but at a price.
They stop humans from fighting each other, and then set up what appears to be a peaceful but controlled society.
The story bogged down for me toward the middle of the book. I felt like too much time was spent developing the love life and feelings of numerous characters, at the expense of the main storyline. I would have preferred more action and a little less romance.
The characters are well developed and the stage is now set for an exciting action packed sequel.
Soft porn disguised as post-apocalyptic fiction (Example on the delicious man in front of her, Alyssa lavishly worshipped Sebastian’s statuesque form, as she studied and memorized the feel of his skin under her exploring fingers and caressing lips. He quaked and shuddered, gripping her shoulders.)Author is a really poor writer and uses vocabulary and structure about on the level of a poorly-educated 14-year-old (ex "you are under arrest for cavorting with the enemy"). Absolutely unconvincing portrayal of future world. Heroine wears yoga pants and goes for malted milkshakes at local candy store. Rebels operate in plain sight and no one ever worries that telephones (and they still use old fashioned land lines) or vehicles or living quarters are bugged. Give me a break! Do yourself a favor and spend your money on something better.
